    A new multipath routing approach to enhancing TCP security in ad hoc wireless networks

    In a typical mobile ad hoc network, mobile computing devices wander autonomously and communicate via temporary links in a self-organized computing system without any central administrator or infrastructure support. To support truly ad hoc impromptu communication among such uncoordinated devices, a data multipath routing algorithm can be used because there is no need to rely on a centralized encryption facility (e.g., a PKI server) or complicated distributed keying protocols. In this paper, we propose a data multipath routing algorithm called Multipath TCP Security (MTS) to enhance the data security. In MTS, the source node adaptively chooses the available routes rather than exhaustively testing the "stored routes" one by one. Simulation results show that our algorithm provides a reasonably good level of security and performance. © 2005 IEEE.published_or_final_versio

    Discovering multiple resource holders in query-incentive networks

    Session - Content Distribution and Peer-to-Peer NetworksIn this paper, we study the problem of discovering multiple resource holders and how to evaluate a node's satisfaction in query incentive networks. Utilizing an acyclic tree, we show that query propagation has a nature of exponential start, polynomial growth, and eventually becoming a constant. We model the query propagation as an extensive game, obtain nodes' greedy behaviors from Nash equilibrium analysis, and show the impairment of greedy behaviors via a repeated Prisoner's Dilemma.     Surface treatments of indium-tin-oxide substrates: Comprehensive investigation of mechanical, chemical, thermal, and plasma treatments

    Various surface treatments significantly affect the work function and surface roughness of indium tin oxide (ITO), and thusly influence charge injection and overall performance of organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs). Large number of treatments, most commonly oxygen plasma treatment and UV-ozone treatment, have been proposed to improve characteristics of ITO. In this work, we have investigated a) mechanical treatments (mechanical rubbing, followed by ultrasonic bath), b) chemical treatments (dipping into aqueous solutions of various acids, including acids which have not been investigated previously) c) thermal treatments (thermal annealing in different atmospheres) d) plasma treatments e) UV ozone treatment f) different combinations of the above. We have measured surface sheet resistance of the samples and investigated surface morphology of the treated samples and compared them to "as-received" samples. We have selected several treatments giving best results. Then we have fabricated OLEDs using ITO substrates treated with treatments selected, as well as a control OLED fabricated on "as-received" ITO. The impact of ITO treatments on the performance of OLEDs have been investigated on two types of devices, OLEDs with and without transport layer, having the structures glass/ITO/Alq 3/Al and glass/ITOFrPD/Alq 3/Al, respectively, where Alq 3 (tris-(8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum) is emitting layer and TPD (N,N′-diphenyl-N,N′-bis(3-methyl-phenyl)-1, 1′ biphenil-4,4′diamine) is a hole transport layer.published_or_final_versio

    Thickness dependence of microstructures in La0.8Ca0.2MnO3 thin films

    The thickness dependence of microstructures of La0.8Ca0.2MnO3 (LCMO)/SrTiO3 (STO) thin films was investigated by high-resolution x-ray diffraction, small angle x-ray reflection, grazing incidence x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and atomic force microscopy. The results show that all the LCMO films are well oriented in (00l) direction perpendicular to the substrate surface. Self-organized crystalline grains with a tetragonal shape are uniformly distributed on the film surface, indicating the deposition condition being of benefit to the formation of the crystalline grains. With increasing the film thickness, the crystalline quality of the LCMO film is improved, while the surface becomes rougher. There exists a nondesigned cap layer on the upper surface of the LCMO layer for all the samples. The mechanism is discussed briefly.published_or_final_versio

    K_S K_L from psi'' decays is searched for using the psi'' data collected by BESII at BEPC, the upper limit of the branching fraction is determined to be B(psi''--> K_S K_L) < 2.1\times 10^{-4} at 90% C. The measurement is compared with the prediction of the S- and D-wave mixing model of the charmonia, based on the measurements of the branching fractions of J/psi-->K_S K_L and psi'-->K_S K_L.Comment: 5 pages, 1 figur
